Water in the ship to day at 8am at 4pm at midnight At fire room bilge 6 inches 13 inches 5 inches Sounded at noon in 28 1/2 fathoms, muddy bottom. No drift indicated by the lead line. At 10am the ship was inspected by Commanding Officer, after which divine service was performed in the cabin. Dull and gloomy weather, with almost steady fall of light snow. East wind during forenoon, backing suddenly to N.W. and continuing to back until it reaches S.W. x W. by midnight. Steadily rising barometer. Moon 24° N. New moon
