During a puff of wind during the night the crank shaft of the wind mill was broken. Commenced the work 
of forging a larger one. The pumping and distilling are done by the Baxter engine.

Sounded at noon in 30 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A drift to N.E. being indicated by the lead line. 
Weather generally overcast and foggy with occasional falls of very light snow. Much water sky to N'd & 
E'd and S'd and E'd. Light south-westerly succeeded by fresh W.S.W. wind falling barometer and 
pleasant temperature.
