The pumping is all done by the Baxter engine in connection with the shifted bilge pump in the corner of 
the fire room hatch. Water is distilled by the Baxter boiler.

Sounded at noon in 29 fathoms. Muddy bottom. No drift indicated by lead line. Sunrise obscured by fog. 
Sunset at 11.23.
Weather foggy and misty until 11am when it cleared, remaining entirely cloudless until 11pm, when the 
sun settled toward thin streaks of stratus clouds. Water sky then appeared between E. and south. E.S.E. 
breeze all day, with rising barometer. 
A flock of ducks (Eiders) flying high passed to the westward.
Crew engaged in general work of clearing up. Removed winter porch from in front of cabin. Placed the 
steering compasses in their binnacles.

Provisions condemned during the month of April.
