Coal consumed during the preceding 24 hours: 170 lbs
Coal remaining on hand at noon: 56 tons 1148 lbs 

The pumping is done by hand at the quarter deck bilge pump, and the distilling is done by the steam 
cutter's boiler. 
Sounded in 24 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A slight drift to S.W. being indicated by the lead line. Lowered 
and hauled the dredge.
At 10am called "all hands to muster". Read the act for the government of the Navy and mustered the 
crew. The Commanding Officer inspected the ship and afterwards read divine service in the cabin.
Gloomy and disagreeable weather. Light N.W. wind veering to N.E. finally and freshening a little. Thick 
fog and mist nearly all day. Slowly rising barometer.
