Water in the ship to day at 8am at 4pm at midnight At fire room bilge 5 inches 5 inches 5 inches Sounded at noon in 24 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A slight drift to N.N.E. being indicated by the lead line. Lowered and hauled the dredge. At 10am the ship was inspected by the Commanding Officer, after which divine service was read in the cabin. Gloomy and disagreeable weather. Fresh southerly winds veering to westward. Rapidly falling barometer, increasing temperature, occasional showers of hail and rain, and light snow.
