Water in the ship to day at 8am at 4pm at midnight At fire room bilge 4 inches 5 inches 4 inches Sounded at noon in 31 1/2 fathoms. Muddy bottom. No drift indicated by the lead line. Commenced preparations for taking down the deck house. Removed felting from interior, took down steam piping heretofore used for auxiliary pump, and made a suitable re-stowage of provisions &c on deck.
