Sounded at noon in 27 1/2 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A slight S.W. drift being indicated by the lead line.
Weather gloomy and disagreeable. Sky overcast all day, with frequent falls of very light snow. Light 
northerly wind, generally steady barometer and low temperature.
Crew engaged in miscellaneous work about the ship. A seal and two guillemots shot and brought in.
