The steam cutter's boiler is also used for distilling. Water in the ship to day at 8am at 4pm at midnight At water tight bulkhead 7 inches 7 inches 7 inches At fire room bilge 2 inches 3 inches 1 inch Sounded at noon in 44 1/2 fathoms - hard bottom. A drift to north being indicated by the lead line. At 10am the ship was inspected by Commanding Officer, after which divine service was performed in the cabin. Weather overcast with light snow during forenoon, clear and pleasant during afternoon. Southerly and westerly, backing to steady south-east wind, with fluctuating barometer and, after 6pm, rapidly decreasing temperature. Moon 22° 58' S. Full moon
