The steam cutter's boiler is used for distilling. Sounded in 34 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A moderate drift west being indicated by the lead line. Weather generally cloudy and dull. Fresh E.N.E. breezes growing lighter after noon and veering finally to E.S.E. with steady barometer and rising temperature. Occasional fall of fine snow. Considerable water sky about the horizon at midnight. Inspected at 10am. Divine service at 1.30pm. Moon 2° S. First quarter
