The pumping is done as required by hand at the quarter deck bilge pump. 
Sounded in 37 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A drift to E.N.E. being indicated by the lead line. Lowered and 
hauled the dredge.
At 10am the ship was inspected by the Commanding Officer, after which divine service was performed 
in the cabin. 
Light unsteady (chiefly northerly and westerly) winds during the day with slightly rising barometer and 
markedly decreasing temperature. Light snow occasionally during the afternoon and a fog at midnight.

Surface temperature = 33.5° - Specific gravity = 1.003 at 46.5°
2 fathoms = 31° - Specific gravity = 1.0242 at 46°
36 fathoms = 30° x - Specific gravity = 1.0260 at 45° x Miller-Casella No 24403
