Sounded in 25 fathoms. Muddy bottom, a drift to E.N.E. being indicated by the lead line. Lowered and 
hauled the dredge.
Weather generally gloomy and disagreeable. An almost steady fall of light snow all day, followed toward 
midnight by rain hail, and mist. Light S.W. breeze backing to S'd and S.S.E. during the afternoon and 
freshening to a moderate gale. A rapidly falling barometer and considerably increasing temperature 
accompanied the increase in wind velocities.
