Sounded at noon in 31 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A rapid drift to N.E. x E. being indicated by the lead line. 
Lowered and hauled the dredge.
At 10am the ship was inspected by the Commanding Officer, after which divine service was performed 
in the cabin. 
A young fox was captured near the ship by one of the dogs.
Moderating westerly and south-westerly winds, rising followed by falling barometer with pleasant 
temperature.
