The pumping is done by the wind mill, and the distilling by the steam cutter's boiler, the fire having been 
hauled under the Baxter boiler for scaling and cleaning purposes.

Sounded at noon in 33 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A drift to north being indicated by the lead line. Lowered 
and hauled the dredge.
Gloomy and disagreeable weather. Light southerly and easterly winds veering in of ~ to northerly and 
westerly winds. Slowly rising barometer and uniform temperature. Almost continuous fog and light snow.
