Sounded in 38 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A drift to S.S.W. being indicated by the lead line. 
Weather clear about noon and midnight, cloudy and gloomy at other times. Mist and snow in the 
forenoon; fog and snow in the evening. Light S.W. breeze veering to north, and dying out at 8.30pm, 
with a light southerly breeze springing up toward midnight. Rising barometer and (except during the 
calm) uniform temperature.
Carpenters engaged in roofing in the deck house.
