Overcast. Moderate easterly wind. At 11.55 stopped engines and hove ship to. Got a cast in 74 fathoms. 
Black mud and sand. Dredged for deep sea specimens. Condemned dog food 42 lbs roast beef marked 
"Cutting Packing Co".
