The pumping is done as required by hand at the quarter deck bilge pump. 
Sounded in 36 fathoms. Muddy bottom. A slight drift to N.E. being indicated by the lead line. Lowered 
and hauled the dredge.
Weather generally bright and pleasant until midnight. Light westerly airs backing to southward, with 
rising barometer and low temperature.

Surface temperature = 34.5° - Specific gravity = 1.002 at 42.5°
2 fathoms = 31° - Specific gravity = 1.0245 at 42°
35 fathoms = 30° x - Specific gravity = 1.0265 at 42° x Miller-Casella No 24403
