Misty weather. Thick at noon. Light breeze from N'd. Very high barometer. The physical examination by 
the surgeon was continued and finished. At 12 sounded in 30 fathoms. Blue mud. Drifting to S.S.E. 
(mag.) = S. (true) Ship heeling 2 1/2° to starboard.

PM
Weather misty until 7 when it cleared off. Very beautiful night. Moon and stars very bright. Lunar haloes 
showing prismatic colors at times. Lunar rainbow in the S. at 10.30. Auroral arch (34° in altitude) from 
N.N.E. to N.N.W. (mag.) which at 11.50 flashed into a magnificent auroral curtain.
